HELLOWhat we're about.

The Student Association of Photographers (SAPs) of Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, KS, is hosting “13th Annual, Perspectives of Photography Seminar, Shoot-Out & Photo Competition,” which is scheduled for the weekend of April 10-11, 2015 at Pittsburg State University. This annual event, planned and presented by the members of SAPs and used as a fundraiser for scholarships and photographic enrichment activities, is open to the high schools, universities and communities throughout the Four State region. It is designed to educate the attendees on multiple aspects in the field of photography as well as provide a creative outlet and information pool for anyone, whether they be the mom who just got her first digital camera, the student or the hobbyist who just love taking pictures, or the professionals who are already established in the photographic community and looking for new techniques.

In addition to the fundraising opportunity provided by this event, it also provides the Four State area with an experience that had not been previously available, except with extensive travel and at great expense to the attendees. With having such a photographically saturated area, it seems only natural and almost necessary, for this service to be provided to the local photographic community, as well as the students of PSU. To have the opportunity to learn from those in their particular photographic field, who are more than willing to donate their time to further inspire those already interested in the field, is almost immeasurable.

This event is for those who are interested in photography and seeking to learn more about it, refine current skills or learn new methods, meet, mentor, and network with those interested in or already firmly rooted in the field, as well as, provide the opportunity for those interested to be exposed to new areas/topics in photography. In the past we have featured four speakers, discussing varying topics ranging from landscape and nature photography to weddings, concept and news or journalistic photography. This year, there will be many more speakers presenting and attendees will now have the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions/mini-shoots and apply the techniques, methods and topics being presented.
